1) Skull Mets: What were your symptoms and how was it found _____? I've had one skull met. Found in October, 2004 when
I started having difficulties moving my tongue. These episodes would last about 60 seconds, 2 or 3 times daily. MRI of skull
found the met, interfering with the nerves that control the tongue. Unusual, to say the least. It was treated successfully
with 20 traditional radiation treatments.

Symptoms of my mets to skull:
- "boney changes" on he skull base pinched/pressured the cranial nerve
and caused a 6th nerve palsy in the left eye with bad double-vision -
don't know if the nerve will repair once the pressure is relieved
- generalized headaches across my brow and temple
- periodic sinus pain on the left (same side as the affected nerve)
- more recently, all-over pressure headaches, including areas along the
back of my skull
Diagnosis was just confirmed about 2 weeks ago ... I just stared
steroids & radiation to my skull base and it seems to be helping the
pressure/headaches some.

For several months I frequently felt painful areas on my skull, especially if I touched
too hard with the hairbrush ( I have very thin hair) When I brushed it would feel really sensitive as if just to the touch
of the hair. But the painful areas seemd to come and go, and were in various spots on my skull. I probably would have continued
to put this pain on my skull down to imagination if I hadn't been suffering so much other pain in my shoulder, back and ribs,
pain which quickly prompted my local doc, in april 2005, to send me back to my bc surgeon, who ordered bone scans. I haven't
seen that original scan, but I gather there were numerous areas of uptake in my skull. Since being on Femara the painful areas
have diminished.
Funnily enough, I felt quite affronted by having mets in the skull. In my ribs, shouldre, pelvis, leg,
arm,... fine,... but in my SKULL! that was getting a little too close to home for my liking!
